Note: these utils aren't polished at all for public release. Expect weird quirks, like needing to put a trailing \ in path names, etc. TPAHack ------- usage: TPAHack Lets you extract music from the game. Just type the tpa filename on the command line like that, or drag the file onto tpahack.exe if you're a GUI person. Play with the fine menu system. Have fun. Some of the extracted wavs can't be played by windows. You might need a utility such as Cool Edit to listen to/convert them. GRFHack ------- usage: GRFHack Similar to TPAHack -- can extract information from GRF, SCN, and SAVEGAME files. Then use a hex editor or whatnot to view them. SPECIAL NOTE WITH GRF FILES: The GRF files that come with Trespasser are GZIP-compressed. You have to decompress them manually before GRFHack can read them (Trespasser can read both the compressed and decompressed files). You can do this with WinZip: Say we're talking about be.grf. Rename it to be.grf.gz. If you have the latest version of WinZip, it should be openable now. Double-click it. It'll ask you what the file within the archive is named. Call it be.grf. Extract. Yay. SWPExtract ---------- usage: SWPExt For this util you'll have to know how to get the SWP file and the PID file. The SWP file is in the Trespasser directory shortly after you've played the apropriate level. (It's decompressed from the CD:\Data\*.spz file when you load the level). Example: when you load the first level, the be-130.spz file off the cd is decompressed onto the hard drive as be-130.swp). the PID file is in the CD:\data directory (be-130.pid). Well that's about it. If you have questions don't mail us, we're not supporting these utils at all. You might try some trespasser or gaming board, someone might care :) PenguiN42 former THS programmer taylok2@rpi.edu
